5€ up-Konverter

Auf der Suche nach einem Breitbandmischer für eine Gerätereparatur fand ich vor einigen Wochen den SYM-11 von MINI-Circuits für 1,95 Euro bei Pollin. Wegen des unschlagbar günstigen Preises wurden natürlich gleich mehrere geordert.

Nun war ich nach Jahren der UP-Konverter-Abstinenz genügend sensibilisiert auch mal wieder selbst zu löten. Ausgefeilte Konzepte, Schaltungen und Fertiggeräte kann man zigfach im Internet finden, es ist unnötig hier nachzulegen.

Mein Ansatz ging in genau die andere Richtung "wie wenig ist nötig damit es auch noch gut funktioniert".

Neben o.g. Mixern fand ich bei Pollin 64 MHz Oszillatoren für 60 Cent und gebrauchte SMA/MCX Kabel für 1,95 €. Somit betrug die Investition Mischer, Oszillator, Stecker/Kabel insgesamt 4,50 Euro plus einige Kleinteile aus dem Bastelkeller.

Die hier vorliegende Minimalversion eines UP-Konverters entstand an einem verregneten Nachmittag. Es wurde bewusst auf jeglichen peripheren Komfort verzichtet. Im Mittelpunkt stand "Funktion ohne Ballast".

Sowohl DCF77 als auch alle KW-Bänder funktionieren ausgezeichnet.

While searching a broadband mixer for a equipment-repair, I found  the SYM-11 from MINI-Circuits at Pollin-Electronics for 1.95 Euro each. Naturally several of them have been ordered because of the unbeatable low price.

After many years of "converter abstinence" I was sensitized enough to solder a new one. Sophisticated concepts, circuits and devices ready for use can be found at the Internet. It would be silly to do the same work again.

My approach went in exactly the other direction how little is needed to make it work well.

In addition to the above mixers I found  some 64 MHz oscillators for 60 cents each and used SMA / MCX cables for 1.95 € at Pollin-Electronics .
So the total investment for mixer, oscillator, plugs and cable was 4.50€ plus some small parts from the homebrew-box.

The mini-version of an up-converter was created on a rainy afternoon. I have consciously renounced any peripheral comfort. The focus was "function without ballast".

Both LF (DCF77) and all SW-bands work very well.
